ABOUT ARTWORK +
Thomas Struth is one of the world’s most prominent photographers. He started his career in the late seventies with cityscape pictures; single point perspective photos, taken from the middle of the streets in cities like Düsseldorf and New York – and later from almost all over the world. "Street in San Francisco" (aka "Waverly Place") is in color and there are people in it – not like Struth's "original" Straßen-photos (late 1970s-early 1990s) which were black and white photos of empty streets.

Collector's notes on artwork: "Straßen" is peak Struth. Sure, I love almost everything he does – from family portraits and jungle "portraits" to museum photographs and science photographs – but to me, nothing comes close to Struth's photographs of streets, buildings and public squares. Fun fact: This was the very first photograph that caught my eye when I entered Struth's career-spanning exhibition at Haus der Kunst in München in late 2017.
