ABOUT ARTWORK +
Julian Opie is a contemporary British artist known for his distinctive depictions of figures, portraits, landscapes and animated walking figures. Often created by thick black outlines and filled in with solid areas of flat color. "Rain footsteps siren" is from Opie's 2000 series "Eight Landscapes", and features in the Tate collection. These eight images were created from Opie's photographs of urban and natural environments, which Opie scanned and emptied of detail by blocking in areas of flat color. Opie's work has been exhibited extensively in galleries and museums around the world.
