ABOUT ARTWORK +
Roe Ethridge is a postmodernist commercial and art photographer, known for exploring how pictures can be replicated and recombined to create new visual experiences. He often uses images that have already been published – including outtakes from his own commercial work and images pulled from retail catalogues – as the subject matter for his large-format photographic prints and book projects. "Gas Station" is from the photobook Rockaway Beach (2008), where Ethridge used quite few older images including a handful of 4 x 5 Polaroid’s. After participating in the 2008 Whitney Biennial, Ethridge's work has been collected by leading public museums such as MoMa and Tate Modern.
